Eligibility Details

• Passed 10th (Matric/SSC) with minimum 50% marks from a recognized board.
• Must have a valid ITI/National Trade Certificate in the relevant trade from NCVT/SCVT.

North Central Railway Apprentice Selection Process

The selection of apprentices is completely merit-based. No written exam or interview will be conducted.

1. Merit List

The merit list is prepared based on the average percentage of marks obtained in:

• 10th (Matriculation) – Minimum 50% aggregate marks required.
• ITI (Relevant Trade) – Average marks of all semesters.

Both qualifications are given equal weightage.

2. Tie-Breaking Rules

If two or more candidates have the same marks:

• Older candidate will be given preference.
• If age is also the same, the candidate who passed 10th earlier will be preferred.

3. Document Verification (DV)

• Candidates up to 1.5 times the total vacancies will be called for document verification.
• Original certificates/documents must be produced.
• Any mismatch between the application and original documents will lead to rejection.

4. Medical Fitness

• Selected candidates must submit a Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a Government Authorized Doctor (Gazetted Officer) not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon.

5. Final Selection

• Final selection is based on merit, successful document verification, and medical fitness.
• Candidates are allotted to divisions/workshops based on merit and their preferences. The Railway Administration may reassign candidates if required.
