Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) Apprentice Selection Process 2026
The selection process for the Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) Apprentice Recruitment 2026 consists of multiple stages. Candidates must qualify each stage to be considered for final engagement.
Stage 1: Online Written Examination
The first stage is an objective-type online examination conducted for a total of 100 marks.

Exam Details
- Mode of Exam: Online (Objective Type)
- Duration: 90 Minutes
- Total Questions: 100
- Total Marks: 100
- Candidates must appear for the examination using their own front-camera-enabled desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
Minimum Qualifying Marks
- Candidates must obtain the minimum aggregate qualifying marks as decided by the Bank.
- SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum qualifying aggregate marks.
- There is no sectional cut-off. Only the overall aggregate score will be considered.
Stage 2: Local Language Proficiency Test
Candidates must be able to read, write, speak, and understand one of the local languages of the State/UT for which they have applied.
Exemption
Candidates are not required to appear for the Local Language Test if they submit Class 10th or 12th mark sheet/certificate proving that they studied the selected local language.
Important Note
- The Local Language Test is conducted during Document Verification.
- Candidates who fail the Local Language Test will not be considered for apprenticeship engagement.
Stage 3: Personal Interaction (If Required)
The Bank may conduct a Personal Interaction/Interview, if considered necessary. Details will be communicated to shortlisted candidates.
Stage 4: Document Verification & Medical Examination
Candidates shortlisted after the selection stages must complete:
- Document Verification
- Verification of Character & Antecedents
- Caste/Category Certificate Verification (if applicable)
- Medical Fitness Examination
Final engagement is subject to successful completion of all verification formalities and being declared medically fit.
Final Selection
- Final selection will be made strictly on merit, subject to the applicable reservation rules.
- If two or more candidates obtain the same marks, the older candidate (higher age) will be placed higher in the merit list.
Wait List
- The Bank will prepare a State-wise and Category-wise Wait List.
- The wait list will remain valid for one year from the date of declaration of the final result.
- Vacancies arising due to non-joining of selected candidates may be filled from the wait list.
Apprenticeship Certificate
After successfully completing the one-year apprenticeship training, candidates must pass the Final Assessment Test conducted under the Apprentices Act. Only then will they be awarded the Apprenticeship Certificate.
