Scientist B Selection Procedure & Exam Pattern
Stage 1: Shortlisting on GATE Score
- Only eligible candidates who register on the portal will be considered.
- Shortlisting for interview is done in a 1:5 ratio, discipline-wise and category-wise, based on GATE score merit.
- GATE 2024, GATE 2025 and GATE 2026 scores are given equal weightage.
- If many candidates have the same GATE score at the cut-off rank, all of them are shortlisted.
Stage 2: Document Verification
- Held before the interview. Candidates must bring original documents.
- Candidates who do not appear for document verification will not be allowed to appear for the interview.
Stage 3: Personal Interaction / Interview (Maximum 50 Marks)

Final Merit & Tie-Breaking

The final merit list is prepared discipline-wise and category-wise. If two candidates end up with the same total marks, the tie is broken in this order: higher GATE score first, then higher marks in the Technical Knowledge part of the interview, and finally the older candidate by age.
