BPSC selects teachers only through a written exam. There is no interview for this recruitment.
Preliminary Exam (Objective Type)

Main Written Exam (Objective Type)
The main exam paper is not the same for every teacher level. Primary teachers get one pattern, and Middle, Secondary, Higher Secondary teachers get another.
For Primary Teachers (Class 1-5)
- Part I (Language Qualifying): 30 Questions. Minimum 30% Marks Needed To Qualify.
- Part II (General Studies): 120 Questions Covering Elementary Math, Mental Ability, General Awareness, Science And Social Science.
For Middle, Secondary And Higher Secondary Teachers (Class 6-12)
- Part I (Language Qualifying): 30 Questions. Minimum 30% Marks Needed To Qualify.
- Part II (General Studies): 40 Questions.
- Part III (Subject Specific): 80 Questions Based On The Chosen Subject.
Tie-Breaking Rule
If two candidates score the same total marks, BPSC checks the points below in order:
- Higher marks in the Subject Paper (Part III)
- Higher marks in the Language Qualifying Paper (Part I)
- Older candidate gets preference
- Alphabetical order of candidate names
