Delhi High Court HJS Exam 2026: Selection Procedure & Exam Pattern
Selection to the Delhi Higher Judicial Service is made through three stages – Preliminary Examination, Mains Examination and Viva-Voce.
Preliminary Examination
- Objective type (MCQ) paper carrying 200 marks.
- Questions cover Constitutional Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law and other allied subjects.
- 25% negative marking for every wrong answer.
- Qualifying marks: General category 60% (120 marks), SC/ST 55% (110 marks).
- Prelims marks are only used to shortlist candidates for Mains and are not added to the final merit.
Mains Examination
- Written/descriptive papers based on law subjects, to be held on 10-11 October 2026.
- Candidates who qualify Mains are called for the Viva-Voce round.
Viva-Voce (Interview)
- Final stage to judge a candidate’s suitability for judicial service.
- Final merit list is prepared on the combined performance of Mains and Viva-Voce.
