Eligibility Details

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor of Science Degree in Horticulture [B.Sc. (Horticulture)] OR Agriculture [B.Sc. (Ag.)] from a University/Institution recognized by any State Government or the Government of India. No other equivalent qualification is accepted.
  • Candidate must be able to read, write and speak Odia, fulfilled through Middle School/Matriculation/Class-VII Odia language study, or an Odia proficiency test conducted by the School & Mass Education Department, Odisha.
  • Candidate must not have more than one spouse living, unless exempted by the State Government.

Assistant Horticulture Officer Selection Procedure & Exam Pattern

Selection is based on a competitive examination comprising a Written Examination followed by a Personality Test (Interview).

Stage 1: Written Examination (200 Marks)

Qualifying marks for each paper and/or aggregate will be fixed by the Commission for each category of candidates.

Stage 2: Personality Test / Interview (25 Marks)

Candidates securing the minimum qualifying marks in the Written Examination will be shortlisted for Interview in a ratio of about 1:2 of the advertised vacancies per category, subject to a minimum of 5 candidates.

Stage 3: Final Select List

The final list is prepared on Aggregate Marks of the Written Examination (200) + Interview (25) = Total 225 Marks. In case of a tie, the candidate with higher marks in the Written Examination is ranked higher; if still tied, the older candidate by age is placed higher.

  • B.Sc. (Horticulture) / B.Sc. (Agriculture) Degree Certificate
  • Mark-sheets from HSC to Bachelor’s Degree, including fail marks if any
  • Four recent passport-size photographs (unsigned, unattested)
  • Caste Certificate (for SC/ST candidates of Odisha by birth)
  • Odia Test Pass Certificate
  • Permanent Disability Certificate for PwD (≥40% disability)
  • Release Certificate and Affidavit (Appendix-B) for Ex-Servicemen
  • No Objection Certificate for Government servants
  • Identity Proof (Aadhaar / EPIC / DL / Passport / PAN Card)
  • Third Gender/Transgender Identity Certificate, where applicable
