NIC Scientific/Technical Assistant-A 2026: Selection Procedure & Exam Pattern
How Candidates Are Selected
NIC does not conduct any separate written exam or interview for this post. The merit list is prepared purely on the basis of the candidate’s GATE score. Applicants must submit their best score from 2024, 2025 or 2026 in the paper matching their chosen discipline, and equal weightage is given to all three years.
Tie-Breaking Rules
- Candidate with the older GATE score year is ranked higher.
- If the GATE score and year are both same, the older candidate is ranked higher.
- If the tie still continues, the candidate with higher marks percentage in their qualifying degree is ranked higher.
Document Verification & Final Offer
- Shortlisted candidates, based on the merit list, are called for document verification (DV) in Delhi or other approved locations.
- Candidates must carry original Birth Proof, Degree Certificates, Category Certificates, valid GATE scorecard and a downloaded Authorization Letter.
- No TA/DA is paid for attending document verification.
- Eligible candidates are given a provisional appointment, with All India liability to be posted anywhere in India or abroad.
