Eligibility Details
- Candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree.
- Minimum 10 years of teaching, research or extension experience in a University, College or other Higher Education Institution as an Associate Professor (Reader) or Professor.
- At least 10 research papers published in peer-reviewed or referred journals.
- Minimum 110 Academic Performance Indicator (API) score is compulsory.
- For B.Ed. college posts, B.Ed./Teacher Training qualification and NCTE norms will apply.
UPESSC UP Principal: Salary Details

Appointment as Principal is for an initial tenure of 5 years, extendable by another 5 years on satisfactory performance review. After the tenure, the candidate reverts to their parent post carrying the grade of Principal.

UPESSC UP Principal Selection Procedure & Exam Pattern
Selection for the post of Principal will be done in the following stages:
- Stage 1: Written Examination (360 marks)
- Stage 2: Interview (40 marks)
- Stage 3: Document Verification
- Stage 4: Final Merit List (based on combined Written Exam and Interview score)

- Total Marks: 360
- Total Questions: 120 Objective Type (MCQ)
- Marking: +3 for each correct answer, -1 for each wrong answer
- Exam Mode: Offline (OMR based)
