Application Fees

  • Native Chhattisgarh candidates who appear for the exam get the fee refunded to the same account used for payment.

Eligibility Details

  • Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognised university with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD/Transgender candidates), and marks will not be rounded off.
  • Candidates in the final year of their Master’s degree or equivalent exam can also apply, but must complete the degree with the required percentage within 2 years of the CG-SET result.
  • Relaxation in marks and reservation benefits apply only to native Chhattisgarh candidates from SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and PWD categories.
  • Candidates with a degree from a foreign university must get it verified as equivalent to an Indian university degree.

CG-SET 2026 Selection Procedure & Exam Pattern

CG-SET 2026 is conducted through two compulsory papers, both objective type with no negative marking.

Paper-I checks teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. Paper-II is based entirely on the subject chosen by the candidate.

Qualifying criteria

  • Top 6% of candidates who appear in both papers and score at least 40% aggregate marks (General category) will be declared qualified.
  • Candidates from SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PWD and Transgender categories need at least 35% aggregate marks to qualify.
  • Reservation rules of the Chhattisgarh state government apply while declaring the final qualified list.

Documents and dress code for exam day

  • Carry the admit card, a black or blue ball point pen, and an original photo ID (Voter ID, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card etc). Entry is not allowed without an original photo ID.
  • Wear light-coloured half-sleeve clothes; black, dark blue, dark green, maroon, purple and dark chocolate colours are not allowed. Wear slippers or flip-flops instead of shoes, and avoid ornaments or earrings.
  • Reach the centre at least 2 hours before the exam. The gate closes 30 minutes before start time: 9:30 AM for Paper-I and 1:30 PM for Paper-II.
  • Mobile phones, electronic watches, purses, pouches, scarves, belts and caps are not allowed inside the exam hall.
