CTET September 2026 Exam Information

CTET is a teacher eligibility test conducted by CBSE, not a job recruitment. Clearing CTET makes a candidate eligible to apply for teaching posts in CBSE-affiliated schools, KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, and Union Territory schools, but it does not itself guarantee a job. Final selection depends on the separate recruitment process run by the hiring agency.

• Total editions conducted so far: 21, result of the 21st edition declared on 30/03/2026
• This is the 22nd edition of CTET, application window reopened on Supreme Court’s direction to give eligible candidates another chance to apply
• Candidates who already applied successfully in the earlier window (11/05/2026 to 10/06/2026) should not apply again
• Revised exam date will be announced after the reopened window closes on 01/09/2026

Eligibility Details

Paper-I: Primary Level (Classes I to V)

Senior Secondary + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed or equivalent), completed or final year	50%
Senior Secondary + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, completed or final year (under NCTE 2002 norms)	45%
Senior Secondary + 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), completed or final year	50%
Senior Secondary + 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education), completed or final year	50%

Paper-II: Upper Primary Level (Classes VI to VIII)

Qualification	Minimum Marks
Graduation + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, final year	No fixed % (as per D.El.Ed norms)
Graduation/Post-Graduation + B.Ed, completed or final year	50%
Graduation + B.Ed, completed or final year (under NCTE norms)	45%
Senior Secondary + 4-year B.El.Ed, completed or final year	50%
Senior Secondary + 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed, completed or final year	50%
Graduation + B.Ed (Special Education), completed or final year	50%
Post-Graduation + 3-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed programme, completed or final year	55%

Any candidate who has cleared an NCTE-recognised B.Ed programme can appear for CTET. Someone currently pursuing a teacher-training course recognised by NCTE or RCI, as listed in the NCTE notification dated 23 August 2010, is also allowed to apply while the course is still ongoing.

• Qualification must also match the recruitment rules of the school’s appointing authority, the concerned state government, KVS, or NVS
• SC, ST, OBC, and PwD candidates get up to 5% relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks listed above
