How To Apply For Bihar Police SI Recruitment 2026
The selection procedure for the Bihar Police Sub-Inspector (Special Branch) under Advertisement No. 09/2026 consists of three main stages, followed by a final merit list and mandatory verification.
Stage 1: Preliminary Written Examination
- Nature: This stage consists of a single paper with objective, multiple-choice questions.
- Structure:
- Total Questions: 100.
- Total Marks: 200 (2 marks for each correct answer).
- Duration: 2 hours.
- Subjects: English, General Knowledge, Hindi Language, Reasoning, and Current Issues.
- Qualifying Criteria: Candidates must score at least 30% marks to be eligible for the Main Examination.
- Selection Ratio: Successful candidates, up to 10 times the number of vacancies for each category, are selected for the Main exam based on merit.
Stage 2: Main Written Examination
Candidates who pass the Preliminary exam are eligible for the Main exam, which consists of two papers.
- Paper 1 (Objective):
- Total Questions: 200 questions, worth 1 mark each (Total 200 marks).
- Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes).
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
- Subjects: General Studies & Current Affairs (50), Mathematics & Quantitative Aptitude (40), Reasoning & Analytical Ability (40), English Language (20), Hindi Language (20), and Bihar General Knowledge (30).
- Paper 2 (Subjective/Written):
- Total Marks: 50 marks.
- Duration: 1 hour.
- Subjects: Hindi Essay (15), English Essay (15), English Precis (10), and Hindi-to-English Translation (10).
- Qualifying Criteria: Candidates must score a minimum of 30% marks in both papers.
- Selection Ratio: Candidates up to 3 times the number of vacancies are selected for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) based on their performance in the Main Written Examination.
Stage 3: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
This stage is qualifying in nature, and no marks are awarded for physical standards.
- Verification of Standards: Candidates are measured for height, chest (men), and weight (women) according to the prescribed standards.
- Disqualification: Candidates who do not meet the physical requirements or possess certain physical defects are disqualified.
- Medical Check-up: This includes testing for vision (including color blindness), hearing, flat-foot, and knocking-knees. Specifically, stammering or lisping is a ground for disqualification.
Final Selection and Merit List
